INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAILING CARE PACKAGES TO TROOPS IN KUWAIT / AFGHANISTAN(Questions: Contact Carol)Go to the post office and pick up some medium or large FLAT RATE PRIORITY MAIL boxes. The boxes are free. They will ship for a flat rate no matter how heavy they are.

You should not have to pay more than around $16.00 to mail the large flat-rate priority mail box to an APO address.

Keep a list of what is in your box and take it with you to the post office when you mail the package. The clerk will help you with the customs form. Do not be discouraged by the customs form. You do not have to weigh each item or give its value. An estimate for the value of the total package is all that’s needed.
